Hermit Crabs

Hermit crabs are decapods.  That means they have ten feet or 5 pairs of legs; not all the legs can be found by just looking.  Unlike true crabs, they don’t grow their shell.  They find one that fits and carry it around until they outgrow it.  How do they find the right size shell?  Watch this video and see the Crab Line.

Want to paint some shells for hermit crabs?  Watch Diego and the Hermit Crab Rescue.

Otherwise, enjoy the hermit crabs in the wild.  They live best there.
